The present paper is devoted to hypersurfaces which are critical points for the variational problem of minimizing a certain functional area preserving a linear combination of some area and the volume enclosed. On this way, generalizations and unifications are obtained for several important results regarding compact hypersurfaces of \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) in the Euclidean and the anisotropic settings. For example, a new variational characterization of the Wulff shape is derived.
