The authors present a complete study of the polygonal relative equilibrium where there are \(n\) identical point vertices arranged on a regular polygon and a central vortex, with a possible different circulation. A complete analysis of periodic bifurcations is given for this polygonal equilibrium, where the global bifurcation of periodic solutions of waves travelling in the vertical direction is proved. Bifurcation theory with symmetry and the global Lyapounov-Schmidt reduction technique are used.
