The article is concerned with semilinear fourth-order ordinary differential equation boundary value problems, where the linear part is the operator square of a second-order differential operator with Neumann boundary conditions. Using its Green's function, the problem is re-written in fixed-point form, from which a variational formulation is deduced. Morse theory is used to prove, under suitable conditions on the nonlinearity, two theorems on existence of nontrivial solutions.
