Throughout this review, \(p\) is a prime, \(\alpha\) is an ordinal and group means Abelian \(p\)-group. The author uses several closure properties to define a class of groups which he calls \(\widetilde p^\alpha\)-bounded, which generalizes several well studied classes of groups, including separable groups and groups which are embeddable in \(p^\alpha\)-bounded simply presented groups. He uses the \(\widetilde p^\alpha\)-bounded property to attack several open problems in the literature, including the structure of separable groups and the torsion product of two separable groups, the generalized core class property, and groups whose socles are essentially finitely indecomposable. Many of the results are dependent on set theoretic axioms.
