Calling a dynamical system \((X, f)\) multi-transitive with respect to a vector \(\alpha = (\alpha_1, \dots, \alpha_r)\), \(r \in \mathbb{N}\), of positive integers if the system \((X^r, f^{\alpha_1}\times f^{\alpha_2}\times\dots\times f^{\alpha_r})\) is transitive, and introducing a variant of Furstenberg family generated by a vector, the authors provide a nontrivial characterization of a multi-transitive weakly mixing system and settle a problem posed by \textit{D. Kwietniak} and \textit{P. Oprocha} [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 32, No. 5, 1661--1672 (2012; Zbl 1283.37026)] in the affirmative. Also, they show that multi-transitive systems are Li-Yorke chaotic.
