One important application of the theory of mixed Hodge module is Saito's generalization of Kodaira vanishing. In this paper the author surveys Saito's original arguments starting from a topological vanishing for perverse sheaves and using Saito's version of V-filtrations for \(D_X\)-modules. Using the vanishing theorems, a weak positivity result (in the sense of E. Viehweg) is obtained via a standard algebro-geometric argument. The author also explores a Kawamata-Viehweg type generalization of the vanishing theorems.
