The final value inverse problem for the heat equation is considered, that is the problem to determine the value \(u(x,t)\) such that \[ u_t-u_{xx}=f(x,t) \;\;((x,t) \in (0; \pi) \times (0;T)); \;\;u(0,t)=u(\pi, t)=0; \;\;u(x,T)=g(x) \] from the given function \(g(x)\). Two methods for solving a backward heat conduction problem are introduced in the paper. For these methods a stability analysis with error estimates is given. The roles of regularization parameters in the methods under consideration are investigated. Numerical results are presented to show that the methods under consideration are quite effective.
