    For \(|q|<1\) and non-negative integer \(n\), let \[ (a;q)_n=\begin{cases} 1 & \text{if \(n=0\),}\\ \prod_{k=1}^n (1-aq^{k-1}) & \text{otherwise} \, \end{cases} \] and \[ (a;q)_\infty = \prod_{k=1}^\infty (1-aq^{k-1}). \] Around 1999, using identities associated with the \(q\)-Hermite polynomials, \textit{K. Garrett, M. E. H. Ismail} and \textit{D. Stanton} [Adv. Appl. Math. 23, 274--299 (1999; Zbl 0944.33015)] discovered the following \(m\)-version of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities: \[ \sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{q^{n^2+mn}}{(q;q)_n} = \frac{(-1)^mq^{-m(m-1)/2}a_m(q)}{(q;q^5)_\infty(q^4;q^5)_\infty} +\frac{(-1)^{m+1}q^{-m(m-1)/2}b_m(q)}{(q^2;q^5)_\infty(q^3;q^5)_\infty}, \] where \[ a_m(q) = \sum_{n=0}^\infty q^{n^2+n}\frac{(q;q)_{m-2-n}}{(q;q)_n(q;q)_{m-2-2n}} \] and \[ b_m(q) = \sum_{n=0}^\infty q^{n^2}\frac{(q;q)_{m-1-n}}{(q;q)_n(q;q)_{m-1-2n}}. \] In this article, the authors prove the identity of Garrett, Ismail and Stanton using an identity that they derived previously in their study of \(q\)-continued fraction. Using their identity, the authors also derive several \(m\)-versions of several identities of L. J. Slater.
