    Let \(A\) be a self-conjugate algebra of complex functions on a set \(X\). A \({\mathbb C}\)-linear functional \(\varphi\) on \(A\) is called \({\overline 1}\)-evaluation (resp., \(1\)-evaluation) if \(\varphi(f)\in\overline{f(X)}\) (resp., \(\in f(X)\)) for all \(f\) in \(A\). Sample results. Theorem 3.2 : \(\varphi\) is a positive \({\mathbb C}\)-homomorphism iff it is a \({\overline 1}\)-evaluation. Theorem 4.3: If \(A\) is moreover inverse closed, then \(\varphi\) is a \({\mathbb C}\)-homomorphism iff it is a \(1\)-evaluation.
