Heat exchange between closely positioned bodies not necessarily obeys the conventional Stefan-Boltzmann law, specifically if they are as narrow to each other as a few nanometers. The paper describes thermally excited electromagnetic fields in arbitrary narrow gaps and shows that heat can be carried through the gap by acoustic waves as well. An interplay between these heat carriers, depending on the size of the gap, is phenomenologically settled.
