In their paper [Math. Ann. 225, 195--294 (1977; Zbl 0349.53041)], \textit{S.-Y. Cheng} and \textit{S.-T. Yau} studied the geometry of hypersurfaces with complete constant scalar curvature in space forms. For the case when the ambient space is the Euclidean sphere \(S^{n+1}\), a classification of these hypersurfaces was obtained. In this paper, the authors establish a weak maximum principle for complete hypersurfaces with constant scalar curvature in Riemannian space forms. Also, some applications are given to estimate the norm of the traceless part of its second fundamental form.
