The paper under review contains a converse theorem of Hecke type between Jacobi forms and vector-valued Dirichlet series. Starting with a Jacobi cusp form \(f\) of weight \(k\) and index \(m\) in the sense of \textit{M. Eichler} and \textit{D. Zagier} [The theory of Jacobi forms, Prog. Math. 55 (1985; Zbl 0554.10018)], one can associate a \(2m\)-vector-valued generalized Dirichlet series \(\Lambda (f,s)\) via Mellin transform. \(\Lambda (f,s)\) turns out to be an entire function, bounded in vertical strips satisfying a matrix functional equation under \(s \mapsto k- {1\over 2} -s\). On the other hand each such Dirichlet series gives rise to a Jacobi cusp form.
