Partial differential equations derived from Maxwell equations are used for modeling furtivity and masking problems in electromagnetic obstacle scattering. The main purpose of this paper is to study the possibility of transforming the passive obstacle into an active obstacle. This leads to optimal control problems that are solved by using the Pontryagin maximum principle. Four numerical experiments are considered and solved by means of the operator expansion method.
