The paper deals with a 3D micro heat transfer model in an \(N\)-carrier system with a Neumann boundary condition in spherical coordinates which describes the non-equilibrium heating in biological cells. Two modified Crank-Nicolson schemes are presented. One of them is based on the fictious boundary at the center of the cell and the other is obtained without using the fictious boundary condition. The truncation errors are of second order with respect to the spatial variable. Both schemes are shown to be unconditionally stable. Numerical tests show that the convergence rate of both schemes is about \(2.0\) in space.
