A Lie algebra \(L\) is said to be zero product determined if for every bilinear map \(\varphi\) from \(L\times L\) into an arbitrary vector space \(V\) the following condition holds: if \([x,y]=0\) implies \(\varphi(x,y)=0\), then there exists a linear map \(f:L\to V\) such that \(\varphi(x,y) = f([x,y])\) for all \(x,y\in L\). This concept was introduced by the reviewer, \textit{M. Grašič} and \textit{J. Sanchez Ortega} [Linear Algebra Appl. 430, No. 5--6, 1486--1498 (2009; Zbl 1160.15018)]. In the paper under review the authors extend some results from this paper and from a subsequent paper by \textit{M. Grašič} [Linear Multilinear Algebra 58, No. 7--8, 1007--1022 (2010; Zbl 1210.17013)] by showing that every parabolic subalgebra of a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero is zero product determined.
