This paper is concerned with the Hausdorff and entropy dimensions of compact sets in Euclidean spaces, denoted by \(\dim_ H\) and \(\dim_ E\) respectively. It is noted that \(\dim_ HU\leq \dim_ EU\) and it is shown that there exist sets of Hausdorff dimension zero and of arbitrarily large entropy dimension. It is proved that if U, V are compact sets in \(R^ n\), \(R^ m\) respectively, then \[ \dim_ H(U\times V)\geq \dim_ HU+\dim_ HV,\quad \dim_ E(U\times V)\geq \dim_ EU+\dim_ EV. \] An example is given to show that strict inequality can occur in both of these results.
