This is a note on the p-rank of the divisor class group of algebraic function field of one variable. The author investigates the dimension of the module of residue free differentials modulo pseudo-exact differentials and the rank of a matrix related to the Cartier-Manin matrix of the function field over a perfect field of positive characteristic under constant field extension.
