We investigate monotone semilinear equations in the setting of generalized functions. We derive existence and uniqueness results in situations where no solutions exist in the sense of distributions; next we show it is consistent with continuous solutions whenever they exist. Furthermore we prove that those transient generalized solutions stabilize toward steady state solutions in the same way weak solutions do. Lastly we point out an example how these techniques can be applied to different types of nonlinearities.
