The results in a previous paper of the first and the third author [J. Approximation Theory 55, No.3, 304-317 (1988; Zbl 0678.41028)] characterize the existence of a uniform strong uniqueness constant in terms of limit extreme point sets. Whenever there is a uniform strong uniqueness constant, there is, by a result due to E. W. Cheney, a uniform Lipschitz constant. This paper considers the situation when there is not a uniform strong unicity constant. In particular, Theorem 7 completely determines for a bounded set of functions which have no almost alternation sets whether or not there is a uniform Lipschitz constant. For definitions we refer to the paper in question.
