An analytic sequence space is one of the spaces \(h(r)=\{(x_ n):\overline{\lim}_{n\to\infty}| x_ n|^{1/n}\leq1/r\}\) for \(0<r\leq\infty\), or \(h[r]=\{(x_ n):\overline{\lim}_{n\to\infty}| x_ n|^{1/n}<1/r\}\) for \(0\leq r<\infty\). Let \(E\) be any analytic sequence space and \(X\) any \(FK\)-space. Then all (infinite) matrices are characterised that map \(E\) into \(X\) and all matrices that map \(X\) into \(E\). The crucial notion here is that of a simple sequence space as introduced by Jacob and Köthe.
