An expanding gradient Ricci soliton is a triple \((M^n,g,\nabla f)\), where \((M^n,g)\) is a Riemannian manifold and \(f\) is a smooth function on \(M^n\) such that \(\mathrm{Ric}+{1\over 2}g= \mathrm{Hess}(f)\). It is said to be complete if the manifold \((M^n,g)\) is complete and if the vector field \(\nabla f\) is also complete. The existence problem of an asymptotic cone on expanding gradient Ricci solitons is studied. An important case, namely when the asymptotic curvature ratio complies with some conditions, is selected.
