We consider the class of slow time-periodic solutions of the Ginzburg- Landau equation with coefficients with small imaginary parts. We study these solutions by analysing a complex Duffing (ordinary differential) equation near the integrable limit: the real Duffing equation, which has large families of periodic and homoclinic solutions. To perform this analysis we construct approximations of a certain Poincaré map. We find that none of the periodic solutions of the unperturbed systems survives the perturbation. However, we show the existence of degenerate periodic solutions and several types of heteroclinic solutions of the Ginzburg- Landau equation.
