    A map f: \(R^ k\to R^ k\) is called bi-Lipschitzian iff there exist two positive numbers K and L such that \(0<K\leq L\) and \[ K\| x-y\| \leq \| f(x)-f(y)\| \leq L\| x-y\| \] holds for any \(x,y\in R^ k\). Let \(x\in R^ k\) and \(e\in R^ k-\{(0,...,0)\}.\) Then the authors define the contingent set Df(x;e) of f at x for e as follows: For any \(p\in R^ k\) it holds \(p\in Df(x;e)\) iff there exists a sequence \(\{t_ n\}^{\infty}_{n=1}\) of positive numbers which converges to zero such that \(p=\lim_{n\to \infty}[f(x+t_ ne)-f(x)]/t_ n.\) The authors give some results on contingent sets. They prove: For any \(x\in R^ k\) and for any \(e_ 1,e_ 2\in R^ k-\{(0,...,0)\}\) it holds \(\rho (Df(x;e_ 1),Df(x;e_ 2))\leq L\| e_ 1-e_ 2\|,\) where \(\rho\) is the Hausdorff metric. If one of the sets \(Df(x;e_ 1)\) and \(Df(x;e_ 2)\) is a singleton, then it holds also the inequality \(\rho (Df(x;e_ 1),Df(x;e_ 2))\geq K\| e_ 1-e_ 2\|\).
