Let \(\mathfrak{q}\) be an algebraic Lie algebra. The symmetric algebra \(S(\mathfrak{q})\) has a natural structure of Poisson algebra. In the paper under review, the authors present a sufficient condition for the maximality of Poisson-commutative subalgebras of \(S(\mathfrak{q})\) by the argument shift method. More precisely, let \(Z(\mathfrak{q})\) be the center of \(S(\mathfrak{q})\). For \(\xi\in\mathfrak{q}^*\), let \(\mathcal{F}_{\xi}(Z(\mathfrak{q}))\) be the algebra generated by the \(\xi\)-shifts (See Subsection 2.2) of all elements of \(Z(\mathfrak{q})\). Mishchenko and Fomenko proved that the algebra \(\mathcal{F}_{\xi}(Z(\mathfrak{q}))\) is a Poisson-commutative subalgebra of \(S(\mathfrak{q})\) and, for \(\mathfrak{q}\) semisimple, there is an open subset \(\omega\subset Z(\mathfrak{q})\) such that \(\mathcal{F}_{\xi}(Z(\mathfrak{q}))\) is of maximal dimension for \(\xi\in\omega\). For general algebraic Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{q}\), if \(\text{codim}(\mathfrak{q}^*\setminus\mathfrak{q}^*_{reg})\geq 2\) (codim-2 condition) and \(\text{trdeg}Z(\mathfrak{q})=\text{ind}\mathfrak{q}\), Bolsinov proved that the algebra \(\mathcal{F}_{\xi}(Z(\mathfrak{q}))\) is of maximal dimension for any \(\xi\in\mathfrak{q}^*_{reg}\). There is no known relationship between maximal commutative subalgebras and commutative subalgebras of maximal dimension. In the paper under review, the authors prove that if \(\mathfrak{q}\) satisfies codim-3 condition and some condition on \(Z(\mathfrak{q})\), then, for any \(\xi\in\mathfrak{q}^*_{reg}\), \(\mathcal{F}_{\xi}(Z(\mathfrak{q}))\) is a maximal Poisson-commutative subalgebra of \(S(\mathfrak{q})\) (Theorem~3.2). They also describe several classes of Lie algebras with codim-3 property.
