The author studies the system of three differential equations \[ \dot x= [a(y, z)s- x]x,\;\dot y= [b(x,z)s- y]y,\;\dot z= [c(x,y)s- z]z, \] where \(s\) is an adjustable positive parameter, and the functions \(a,b,c\) are: \[ a(y,z)= a,\;\arctan(y- y_x)+ a_2\arctan(z- z_x), \] \[ b(x,y)= b,\;\arctan(x- z_y)+ b_2\arctan(z- z_y), \] \[ c(x,y)= c,\;\arctan(x- x_z)+ c_2\arctan(y- y_z). \] These functions are called the influence functions and the quantities \(x_y\), \(x_z\), \(y_x\), \(y_z\), \(z_x\), \(z_y\) are the switching points in them. He analyzes the stability of stationary and regular periodic solutions of this system and investigates possible scenarios of the development of irregular chaotic dynamics in such a system.
