The maximal symmetric ring of quotients \(Q_\sigma(S)\) of a ring \(S\) is a symmetric version of the maximal ring of quotients of \(S\). This ring is analogous to the symmetric Martindale ring of quotients. For more details see \textit{S. Lanning} [J. Algebra 179, No. 1, 47-91 (1996; Zbl 0839.16020)]. In a previous paper [\textit{E. Ortega}, J. Algebra 303, No. 1, 225-243 (2006; Zbl 1118.16018)] the author computes the maximal symmetric ring of quotients \(Q_\sigma(F\Gamma)\) of a path algebra \(F\Gamma\) when \(F\) is any field and \(\Gamma\) is finite and \(\Gamma\) is without oriented cycles. Later on we shall use all notions from that paper. In the present paper it is computed explicitly the ring \(Q_\sigma(F\Gamma)\) when \(\Gamma\) is a locally finite quiver without oriented cycles. The main result asserts that \(Q_\sigma(F\Gamma)\) is isomorphic to the multiplier ring \(M(R)\), where \(R=\varinjlim Q_\sigma(F\Gamma_\lambda)\) is the direct limit for an appropriate net \(\{\Gamma_\lambda\}\) of finite subquivers \(\Gamma_\lambda\) of \(\Gamma\) and therefore all \(Q_\sigma(F\Gamma_\lambda)\) can be computed. The key part of this proof consists of showing that \(R\) is a two-sided ideal of \(Q_\sigma(F\Gamma)\).
