On the linear wave regime of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation (Q977301): Difference between revisions

Perturbations of a constant state of modulus one of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation are studied in long-wave asymptotics. Lower bounds on the first occurrence of possible zeros (vortices) are exhibited and the solutions are compared with the corresponding solutions of the linear wave equation or variants. The results rely on the use of the Madelung transform, which yields the hydrodynamical form of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, as well as of an augmented system. The article has a detailed introduction on the problem discussed.
