The paper is devoted to Stefan Banach, in particular to his origins. The author presents all what is known about it providing copies of appropriate documents. In this way he attempts to reject claims of Vitali Milman who wrote (without giving any reliable documents) that Banach was of Jewish origin. The paper is written in a clear way -- it will certainly help to distinguish between facts and myths concerning Banach.
