The author proposes a new quantum analogue of the enveloping algebra of a generalized Kac-Moody superalgebra or Borcherds superalgebra, alternative to the one proposed by \textit{G. Benkart, S.-J. Kang} and \textit{D. Melville} in [''Quantized enveloping algebras for Borcherds superalgebras.'' Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 350, No.8, 3297--3319 (1998; Zbl 0913.17008)]. The latter is a genuine graded Hopf algebra, whereas the former satisfies some relaxed axioms defining what the author calls a weak graded Hopf algebra. The reader should be warned that this structure is different from what is generally called a weak Hopf algebra. It is shown that Benkart, Kang and Melville's quantized Borcherds superalgebra is a direct summand of an Ore localization of this new quantum analogue.
