The decoupling problem for the linear system \(x'=Ax+Bu\) consists of finding a feedback law of the special form \(u(t)=Fx(t)+G_ 1v_ 1(t)+...+G_ kv_ k(t),\) containing new inputs \(v_ 1(t),...,v_ k(t)\) in such a way that, in the resulting system, external outputs each completely control one output but have no influence on the rest. The author extends the finite dimensional theory of the decoupling problem (due to Wonham) to infinite dimensional systems with finite dimensional inputs and outputs.
