Let \(W\subset P^ 6\) be a cone over the Veronese surface \(F_ 4\subset P^ 5\), \(\pi\) : \(V\to W\) be a double covering with nonsingular irreducible branching divisor \(G\subset W\) which is cut out in W by a cubic hypersurface that does not pass through the vertex. In the paper under review the author proves the following conjecture of \textit{V. A. Iskovskikh}: let \(\chi\) : \(V\to V'\) be a birational isomorphism of V onto any Fano variety V' of genus one. Then \(\chi\) is an isomorphism.
