In a Banach space X, the following properties are equivalent: (1) X is rotund and the weak topology and the norm topology coincide on the unit sphere of X. (2) Every point on the unit sphere of X is a denting point of the unit ball of X. (3) Let \(1<p<+\infty\) and let \(\lambda\) be the Lebesgue measure on [0,1]. Then for every \(x\in X\) and \(x_ n\in L^ p(\lambda,X)\) such that \(\lim_{n}\| x+x_ n\|_ p=\| x\|\) and \(\int^{1}_{0}x_ n(t)d\lambda =0\), it follows that \(\lim_{n}\| x_ n\|_ p=0\).
