For the three parameter family of functions \(p(x)=p(\alpha,\beta,\gamma;x)=(\alpha \gamma^ x+\beta)/(\gamma^ x- 1)\) \((\alpha +\beta \neq 0\), \(\gamma\) \(\neq 0)\) a general addition theorem is stated. The well-known Aitken-Steffensen acceleration is a special case. A proof and details will be given elsewhere. Since \(p(\alpha,\alpha^{-1},-\alpha^{-2};n)=F_{n-1}/F_ n\) \((F_ n\) Fibonacci numbers), from the addition theorem an addition formula for Fibonacci numbers follows as a corollary.
