Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the endomorphism ring \(S\) of a quasi-projective left \(R\)-module \(M\) to be left coherent or left IF (a ring is called left IF when every injective left module is flat). If \(M\) is furthermore supposed to be \(\Sigma\)-quasi-projective, then it is shown that there is a canonical isomorphism \(\Hom_R(M,M\otimes_S\Hom_R(M,N))\to \Hom_R(M,N)\) for each left \(R\)-module \(N\) and this is used to study when \(S\) is right IF and also to characterize the right coherence of \(S\) in terms of certain flatness properties.
