The authors give an extremely elementary proof of de Moivre's limit theorem. Let \(x_{n,j}=(j-np)/\sqrt{npq},\) \(f_ n(x_{n,j})=\sqrt{npq}\left( \begin{matrix} n\\ j\end{matrix} \right)p^ jq^{n-j}\) \((0<p<1\), \(p+q=1\), \(j=0,1,2,...,n\), \(n=1,2,...)\) and denote by \(f_ n\) the function connecting the points \((x_{n,j},f_ n(x_{n,j}))\) linear. Without using Stirling's formula they show \(\lim_{n}f'\!_ n(x)/f_ n(x)=-x\) and from this \(\lim_{n}f_ n(x)=\sqrt{2\pi}e^{-x^ 2/2}.\)
