In this paper, the homogenization technique is used for replacing the tube-fluid system by an equivalent continuous medium. The homogenized equations describe the global behaviour of the bundle. The case of viscous fluid is briefly discussed. It is shown that the multiple scale method can yield a model given a macroscopic description of the bundle allowing for the interaction between the fluid and the rods.
