A finite difference method is described for the class of singular two- point boundary value problems: \(y''+(a/x)y'+f(x,y)=0,\) \(0<x<1\), \(y'(0)=0\), \(y(1)=A\), \(a\geq 1\), and shown to be \(O(h^ 4)\) convergent for all \(a\geq 1\). The method closely follows from a second order method given by the first author, \textit{S. McKee} and \textit{G. Shaw} [ibid. 26, 318-326 (1986; Zbl 0602.65063)].
