The author presents an account of some recent mathematical results concerning the one-phase Stefan problem and its solution within the framework of variational inequalities. Several situations corresponding to different boundary conditions and different geometries are discussed. Some continuous-dependence results are presented, which deal with asymptotic behaviour for large time, and stability for homogenization and perturbation of the Dirichlet boundary conditions.
