According to \textit{G. Ellis} and the reviewer [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 46, 117--136 (1987; Zbl 0622.55010)] an \(n\)-fold category object in the category of groups is equivalent to a ``crossed \(n\)-cube'', a family of \(2^n\) groups with some additional structure. In the present paper the author gives similar results for algebras of various kinds (Lie algebras, commutative algebras, etc). He also mentions some results which extend from groups to algebras.
