In this paper a nonequilibrium thermodynamics theory of two-phase materials is constructed. The considerations are limited to nondeformable bodies in the absence of diffusion. The author starts his presentation with the first two laws in forms, appropriate to a continuum, which contain interfacial constributions for energy and entropy. The second law represents a generalization of the well known Clausius-Duhem inequality. A general constitutive theory for the interface is considered (free energy and entropy are dependent on temperature \(\theta\) and on the orientation of the interface). The temperature dependence on the kinematics of the interface is essential for this theory. Compatibility restrictions with the second law are obtained. The equilibrium states are analysed and informations concerning the temperature of the interface at equilibrium and away from equilibrium are obtained. Approximate interface conditions for weak interface are derived.
