The author proves several inequalities for a proper contraction (i.e. bounded linear operator A with \(\| A\| <1)\) and a strictly dissipative operator B (i.e. Im B is an invertible positive operator) defined on a Hilbert space H. Other inequalities are proved for an operator-valued analytic function F on the unit open ball in C such that \(F(0)=I\) and Re F(z) is a positive invertible operator on H. For example, for each z, \(| z| <1\), \[ \frac{1+| z|}{1-| z|}I\geq Re F(z)\geq \frac{1-| z|}{1+| z|}I. \] It is shown that some of these inequalities follow from the \textit{Ky Fan} version of classical Harnack's inequality in functional calculus [General Inequalities 2, Proc. II. Int. Conf. Oberwolfach, ISNM 47, 333-339 (1980; Zbl 0436.47010)].
