Flat totally geodesic submanifolds of quasisymmetric Siegel domains (Q1123423): Difference between revisions

The notion of quasisymmetric Siegel domains was introduced by Satake. The authors give the following geometric characterisation. ``An irreducible homogeneous Siegel domain is quasisymmetric if and only if the induced Bergman metric on the canonical tube domain is symmetric''. The proof uses previous results of the first author and \textit{I. Dotti Miatello} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 276, 531-540 (1983; Zbl 0517.32014)] about root space decomposition for these domains. The authors study also totally flat geodesic submanifolds of quasisymmetric Siegel domains. For this purpose, they use the classification given in the second author's Habilitationsschrift [Homogene Siegel-Gebiete, Univ. Münster 1978] of these domains. A sketch of this classification proof is also given in section 3 of the paper.
