[The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually.] This proceedings contains articles which review and present recent developments in the theory and applications of cellular automata (CA). The papers are grouped under 5 headings. Part I deals with certain aspects of deterministic and probabilistic CA theory in relation to information theory and statistical physics. Part II contains theory and basis applications of lattice gas (LG) automata. Microscopic modelling of complex physical systems are dealt with in Part III and Part IV addresses the microscopic modelling of complex physical systems. In Part V there is one paper on architecture of CA machines. One of the articles presents an exhaustive list of references on LG and lattice Boltzmann equation. There is an attempt to model large scale moving objects on the basis of CA. The proceedings will be of interest to a wide spectrum of readers as it deals with varied topics such as history of CA, hardware implementation of certain CA and computer programs for certain problems in LG.
