Let \(\{m_ k\}\) denote a gap-sequence with \(1<\lambda<m_{k+1}/m_ k<\Lambda<1\) and \(\varphi(t)\) be a positive non-decreasing function on \([1,\infty)\) with \(\varphi(2n)/\varphi(n)\leq K\). The author shows, among others, that if \(0<p<a\) then \[ \sum^ \infty_{k=0}m_ k^{1- p/a}\varphi(m_ k)\left[\sum^{m_{k+1}-1}_{n=m_ k}| b_ n|^ a\right]^{p/a}<\infty \] if and only if \[ \sum^ \infty_{n=1}n^{-p/a}\varphi(n)\left[\sum^ \infty_{k=n}| b_ k|^ a\right]^{p/a}<\infty. \] Hence he derives, e.g., that if \(1\leq a\leq 2\), \(1/a+1/a'=1\) and \(0<p\leq a'\) then \[ \sum^ \infty_{n=1}\varphi(n)| c_ n|^ p\leq K\sum^ \infty_{n=1}\varphi(n)\left[n^{-1/a'}E_ n^{(\alpha)}(f)\right]^ p. \]
