The authors deal with lower and upper bounds for the upper box dimension (which they call here Bouligand dimension) of certain graphs of functions which are series of function sequences. The upper bound to be found is for rather general such functions. Lower bounds are given for curves represented by lacunary trigonometric series and for some random trigonometric series, but then in the almost sure sense. This includes also some exact dimension formulas for certain special settings. The key is that the authors use the representation of upper box dimension \(D_ B\) in the plane as \[ D_ B(E)=\limsup_{\varepsilon\to 0}\left(2-{\log mH_ E(\varepsilon)\over\log\varepsilon}\right) \] for a plane set \(E\), where \(m\) denotes Lebesgue measure and \(H_ E(\varepsilon)\) is the set of points with distance at most \(\varepsilon\) to the set \(E\).
