On maximum modulus of polynomials (Q5905638): Difference between revisions

Suppose \(p(z)\) is a polynomial of degree \(\leq n\), \(\max| p(e^{i\theta})|=1\), \(q(z)=z^ n p(\bar z^{-n})\), \(R\geq 1\), \(|\beta|\leq 1\), and \(A_ n(R)=\beta(1+R)^{n_ 2-n}\). It is proved that if \(| z|=1\) then \[ | p(Rz)+A_ n(R)p(z)|+| q(Rz)+A_ n(R)q(z)|\leq| 1+A_ n(R)|+ | R^ n+A_ n(R)|. \] If \(A_ n(R)=0\) it reduces to a result of \textit{Q. I. Rahman} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 135, 295-307 (1969; Zbl 0189.086)].
