The author applies semi-discrete finite element methods to a parabolic integro-differential equation with a bounded domain and smooth boundary. The kernel is assumed to be integrable. Optimal \(L^p\) error estimates and superconvergence are derived. The main advantage of the studied method is that it can be treated in the same way without the introduction of the Ritz-Volterra projection. The presented method uses the results of finite element approximations for elliptic problems.
