The author reviews the basic notions in Mori's theory, with its topological aspects, and works out some consequences of the hard Lefschetz theorem. The Lefschetz discriminant and the concept of \(L\)-supported homology class is introduced. Extremal contractions are considered, and a representability theorem is proved which allows to represent cohomology in the hyperplane \(R^\perp \subset H^2 (X,\mathbb{R})\) by cohomology in the target of the contraction of \(R\). Finally, ``\(L\)-negligible'' rays are studied.
