The main result of this paper is the following theorem. Let \(K\) and \(T\) be open bounded convex sets in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) of volume one. Then there exists a \(C^1\)-diffeomorphism \(F: K\to T\) preserving the Lebesgue measure such that, for every \(\lambda>0\), \[ \{x+\lambda F(x): x\in K\}= K+\lambda T. \] Essential tools of the proof are Brenier maps (gradient maps of suitable convex functions) and a regularity result for these maps. The proof of the latter, communicated to the authors by L. Caffarelli, is given in the appendix. As applications of their main result, the authors obtain elegant new proofs for some special consequences of the Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequalities for mixed volumes of convex bodies, for example, the inequality \(V(K_1,\dots, K_n)^n\geq V(K_1)\cdots V(K_n)\), together with the equality condition.
