In contrast to the situations in case of linear bounded operators there is no general Hahn-Banach theorem for scalar-valued polynomials and for \(L^\infty\)-valued polynomials as well. The paper under review presents several results under restricted conditions on the domain and range spaces. The first group of results concerns the extension of \(k\)-homogeneous polynomials \(P:E\to X\) to the bidual \(E''\). A natural candidate is the Aron-Berner extension \(P_{AB}: E''\to X''\) which takes values in \(X\) if \(X\) is reflexive or if \(P\) is weakly compact. In the second part, for given \(E\hookrightarrow F\) and \(X\) the set \({\mathcal P}_{e_F}({^kE},X)\) of all polynomials \(P\in{\mathcal P}({^kE},X)\) extendible to \(F\) is studied. With respect to the natural norm \[ \|P\|_{e_F}= \inf\{\|\widetilde P\|:\widetilde P\in{\mathcal P}({^kF},X), \widetilde P|_E=P\}, \] this is a Banach space, and if \(X\) is a dual space then \({\mathcal P}_{e_F}({^kE},X)\) is a dual space, too. Interesting, that the extendibility of a polynomial \(P\) from \(E\) to \(F\) can be characterized by the continuity of the associated linearization \(T_P:\bigotimes^k_s E\to X\) with respect to a certain tensor norm \(\eta_F\) on \(\bigoplus^k_s E\). In the final section it is shown that a polynomial \(P\in{\mathcal P}({^kE},X)\) extends to all superspaces of \(E\) iff it extends to \(\ell_\infty(B_{E'})\).
